Ipekis Mensucat Turk A.S. was founded in such a short time like 2 years after the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey, by the order of Ataturk, in order to asset the sericulture production of Bursa area. Ipekis factory, of which the foundation was laid by Ataturk himself on October 1st, 1925, is known as the first factory, which led the industry of Republic of Turkey. Ipekis Factory, which was founded with incorporation structure at the time, was also one of the first companies in the history of Republic of Turkey that were in the importing business.

Ipekis, which commenced its operations in 1927, incorporated “Ankara Mensucat Fabrikasi Yunis Turk A.S.”, which was also an affiliation of the largest shareholder of itself, Turkiye Is Bankasi, and kept its wool and silk operations going under the same roof upon the transfer of the machinery to Bursa in 1953. Ipekis was incorporated into Tarman Group in 1991 and still continues its production, marketing and sales operations in the wool industry.
